My client is a growing independent insurance agency with offices in the South Puget Sound. You will work out of their University Place office. This position is open due to agency growth!
This book of business is very established. Premiums will be in the $500 to $10,000 range and you will manage about 500 accounts. Many customers are long-term clients of the agency and are accustomed to the \"personal touch\" of a dedicated and knowledgeable Account Manager. In short, you will talk \"live\" to customers in this role, not just depend on email only communication, and you will not send them to a Carrier's call center for service. The job requires an Account Manager who loves autonomy and can handle a wide range of customers ranging from artisan contractors to salons. You need to be a true generalist who knows how to really read and interpret a policy and can act as a trusted advisor who can take the mystery out of business insurance. The goal is to talk to a customer in everyday simple language to help them understand and craft the best insurance strategy for their needs.
You will handle daily service requests such as certificates and endorsements and will also handle call-in referrals, quote new business lines of coverage, and act as the customer's claims advocate as needed. You will be the main point of contact for your insureds. There will not be a producer or assistant on the book. This is a job for a \"take-charge, get it done\", type of account manager who isn't afraid to make decisions and is good with solving problems for customers. You will be writing with both standard as well as E & S markets.

Your day will look like this:
Service commercial lines accounts as assigned and requested.
Handle day to day management of account including client and carrier requests in a timely manner per department procedures.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and carrier partners.
Invoice premium bearing transactions.
Collect premiums per established agency procedures.
Notify producer, account executive or department manager of any unpaid audits and request appropriate actions be made according to agency collections procedure.
Prepare account summaries as required.
Maintain expiration list following department procedures.
Prepare new business and renewal submissions for quotes. Coordinate expirations with producer and/or account executive to compile account information including required supplemental documentation, underwriting data and quote option needs. Prepare proposals of insurance including forms analysis and premium comparisons.
Market submissions to carriers as appropriate and aggressively negotiate new and renewal pricing with carrier. Quote online as required by carrier.
Review all applications, quotes, policies, endorsements and audits for accuracy.
Prepare policies, endorsements, certificates, auto ID cards and related documents for delivery to insureds as needed.
Prepare and process cancellations when required per agency procedures.
Prepare and process all certificate requests as required within 24 hours of request per agency procedures.
Report claims to carrier and assist in claims management issues as needed.
Maintain suspense items in a timely manner.
Maintain all client service activity in the agency automation system. Immediately report all malfunctions of system software to the systems manager.
Keep current on rates, forms and coverage changes through circulars, bulletins, trade publications, seminars and schools offered by preferred carrier partners and surplus markets available.
Must have a P & C license and past agency experience managing a small business/Select commercial lines book of accounts. Knowledge of EPIC or similar agency system is needed; insurance certifications are a huge plus. Need to have strong MS Office skills.
